Turkish Coffee Cafe was built so our family can share the delicious tradition of authentic Turkish coffee with you. We bring in freshly ground coffee from family owned farms located just outside the major cities of Istanbul and Ismir. Our porcelain cups and saucers have been handpicked for both their quality and delicate beauty in Kutahya, a western city famous for its kiln products, which are traditionally glazed and multicoloured. Our coffee is best prepared in a long handled copper pot call a cezve, also commonly called a ibrik. Our pots are made by a blacksmith in Istanbul who has been a family friend for years and his craftsmanship is both durable and appealing to the eye. We've included matching measuring spoons from the same craftsman so each portion can be measured by local standards.
Turkish coffee is a method of preparation, combined with a specific style of roasting and grinding, and it was important to us that ours comes directly from the country. Our packages have been selected so our customers will have the opportunity to experience and enjoy the entire Turkish coffee preparation; from the careful measuring of the aromatic powdery grinds, to the careful pouring of steaming dark liquid for you to savor and enjoy. We believe in Turkish coffee both as a tasty and uplifting beverage, as well as a tradition of family coming together to sit and enjoy time spent sipping and chatting.
We'd enjoy discussing the tradition of coffee making and production, as well as tasseography, the practice of turning over a finished cup into the saucer to cool where the patterns of the coffee grounds can be used for a kind of fortune telling. For this we have an optional newsletter where we will post feedback and responses to customers questions. We pride ourselves on checking email daily and providing prompt and cost efficient shipping so the coffee and equipment arrive quickly and your questions can be addressed.
Thank you for visiting our site and we hope you enjoy the delicious tradition of Turkish coffee as much as we do. Afiyet Olsun!!! (Enjoy!!!)
